Summary
Apple is seeking a Module Design Engineer to join its Hardware team in designing and evaluating prototype hardware for new technologies and features. The role involves developing digital and analog electrical circuits, leading PCB layout, validating designs, supporting hardware bring-up, and managing contract manufacturer interactions during system builds.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate cross-functionally with various hardware and software teams to define prototype hardware to evaluate new technologies and features
- Design and obtain schematic capture of digital and some analogue electrical circuits and systems
- Lead and Review Printed Circuit Board layout
- Build, debug, and support proof-of-concept prototype hardware
- Create and execute plans to bring-up & validate designs for function and performance
- Manage Contract Manufacturer interactions and support CM test during system builds
Skills
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Electrical Engineering or related field and 3 years of experience in the job offered or related occupation
- Utilizing schematic capture and PCB layout ECAD tools such as Allegro or Altium
- Designing high speed, embedded digital, analog and power electronic circuits and systems
- System integration designing for various hardware technologies with microcontrollers and FPGA
- Utilizing digital interface communications such as SPI, I2C, UART and LVDS
- Verifying and Validating power integrity and signal integrity of designed circuits and systems via simulations and board level testing
- Performing failure analysis, root cause analysis and hardware debug to solve complex technical issues that arise during hardware bring up and development
- Using lab equipment including high-speed oscilloscopes, Signal generator, Spectrum Analyzer, DMM's or Logic Analyzer to take accurate and high-quality measurements
- Authoring functional, electrical and test specifications documents
