Summary
Ascension is a nonprofit health system providing compassionate, personalized care across hospitals and clinics. The Billing Representative will support revenue cycle management by verifying insurance, securing pre-authorizations, communicating financial responsibilities, submitting claims, and reconciling billing practices.
Responsibilities
- Verify insurance coverage and secure timely pre-authorizations to ensure seamless patient care access
- Communicate financial responsibilities clearly to patients and practitioners to support transparent care journeys
- Prepare and submit insurance claims accurately to maintain financial compliance and support organizational operations
- Research and reconcile billing practices to resolve unbilled accounts and ensure accurate reimbursement
Skills
- High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required
- Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable
- Experience in healthcare billing, insurance verification or medical claims processing
- Proficiency in navigating commercial insurance and Medicare or Medicaid reimbursement guidelines
