Job description

Summary

Clarest Health provides innovative pharmacy services and automated medication-dispensing solutions to healthcare facilities. The Billing Specialist is responsible for accurate and timely customer billing, including claims processing, eligibility verification, account research, financial reporting, audit support, and responsive customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process monthly billing, including eligibility checks, pre-bills, billing statements, and facility bill distribution
  • Process claims, resolve rejected claims, and address billing discrepancies, including composite billing and split billing
  • Research and process price matching requests, payer changes, write-offs, returned mail, hospice information, and other billing-related items
  • Maintain billing documentation and queues, including DocuTrack, while ensuring information is accurate and up to date
  • Respond to billing questions from facilities, patients, families, responsible parties, and internal departments with a strong customer service focus
  • Prepare and review assigned daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, including short-pay and open-batch reviews
  • Research and respond to third-party audits and assist with resolving complex billing issues as needed
  • Follow company policies and applicable state and federal regulations while participating in process improvement initiatives and other assigned projects

Skills

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, healthcare systems, databases, and data-entry software
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a professional, customer-focused approach
  • Comfortable learning and working with technology and multiple computer systems
  • Ability to work independently, stay organized, solve problems, and manage multiple priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Flexibility to pivot throughout the day as priorities, customer needs, and departmental demands change
  • Ability to handle sensitive or stressful situations professionally while maintaining confidentiality and complying with HIPAA requirements
  • Ability to sit for extended periods of time during the workday
  • Ability to exert up to 40 lbs. of force occasionally and lift, carry, push, or move objects
  • Ability to communicate effectively and work collaboratively with internal teams, customers, and insurance companies
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accuracy in a deadline-driven environment
  • Minimum of two years of medical billing or collections experience preferred; prior pharmacy experience, particularly long-term care pharmacy billing, is a plus
