Summary
BW Papersystems, part of Barry-Wehmiller, builds capital equipment and technologies for paper-converting and related manufacturing industries. The company is seeking hands-on, customer-focused Field Service Engineers and Technicians to install, commission, troubleshoot, repair, upgrade, and support industrial equipment at customer facilities across North America.
Responsibilities
- Install, start up, and commission equipment at customer facilities
- Troubleshoot and program PLCs and automation controls
- Diagnose electrical, pneumatic, mechanical, and controls issues
- Perform equipment upgrades, repairs, and preventive maintenance
- Train customer operators and maintenance personnel
- Document service activities, programming changes, and installation reports
- Interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, and technical drawings
- Maintain a safe, professional work environment
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Controls Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field
- Associate degree or technical certificate in a related field; OR
- High school diploma/GED with 7+ years of relevant industrial experience
- Knowledge of electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and mechanical systems
- Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and ladder logic
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Microsoft Office proficiency; CAD/SolidWorks experience is a plus
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, kneel, and work around machinery
- Lift up to 50 lbs independently and more with assistance
- Maintain visual and mental focus for troubleshooting and service work
- Approximately 75-80% travel throughout the U.S., Canada, and Mexico
- Weekend, holiday, and extended-hour work may be required
- PLC programming and troubleshooting experience preferred
