Summary
Bastian Accounting & Bookkeeping, LLC provides bookkeeping, tax planning, tax preparation, sales tax compliance, payroll support, and financial education for U.S.-based photographers. The Accounting Specialist manages bookkeeping for assigned clients, records and reconciles transactions, prepares monthly financials, communicates with clients, and maintains accurate and confidential financial records.
Responsibilities
- Manage recurring bookkeeping work for an assigned group of clients
- Categorize and record financial transactions accurately
- Reconcile bank accounts and credit cards and troubleshoot discrepancies
- Record income across client systems and payment platforms
- Review transactions for missing, duplicate, unusual, or incorrectly categorized items
- Prepare monthly bookkeeping work for review
- Request and follow up on client documentation and missing information
- Communicate with clients regarding bookkeeping questions, open items, and updates
- Maintain detailed notes documenting completed work, open items, and follow-up needs
- Update leadership on client-work status, delays, and issues requiring guidance
- Follow monthly-close procedures and internal deadlines
- Help maintain organized processes and update SOPs as needed
- Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data with care
- Participate in ongoing training and apply current firm procedures and bookkeeping standards
Skills
- Prior bookkeeping or accounting experience
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with reconciliations and recurring monthly-close work
- Excellent organization and time-management skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate confidently and professionally with clients
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment and collaborate with a team
- Comfort learning and using accounting software and client-facing systems
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online or Xero, plus Google Workspace
- Ability to manage multiple client deadlines and recurring responsibilities
- Willingness to ask questions, accept feedback, and apply training consistently
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous bookkeeping or related accounting experience required
- Basic sales-tax knowledge is helpful but not required
