Summary
Chisholm Chisholm & Kilpatrick LTD represents charities in managing bequests through probate and estate settlement. The Trust & Estates Case Manager / Paralegal will review legal documents, communicate with fiduciaries and financial institutions, monitor estate administration, and maintain accurate case records.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing, interpreting, and editing legal documents, including wills, trusts, waivers, receipts, releases, inventories, and accountings, ensuring accuracy before submission to the bequest attorney or client
- Communicating directly with financial institutions, estate and trust fiduciaries, and/or their legal representatives to facilitate the efficient collection of charitable requests
- Monitoring the progress of estate and trust administration to ensure the timely receipt of bequests
- Collaborating with bequest attorneys, team members, and clients to support efficient estate administration
- Drafting and sending correspondence, such as confirmation letters to fiduciaries upon receipt of charitable bequests
- Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records in the bequest database, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected and properly recorded
- Documenting notifications, correspondence, and follow-up actions in the database for internal and client review
Skills
- · Associate degree or equivalent required
- · Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
- · Strong written and verbal communication skills
- · High attention to detail, ability to analyze legal documents, and strong organizational skills
- · Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
- · Strong collaboration skills and the ability to receive and apply constructive feedback
- · Work Schedule: This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 8:00AM – 4:30PM Eastern Time
- · This role is available onsite at our Providence, RI Headquarters or remotely in the following states: CO, CT, FL, GA, IL, LA, ME, MA, NJ, NC, OH, RI, SC, TX, UT, VA; Rhode Island employees may choose a hybrid schedule
- · Remote employees must maintain a professional workspace and reliable internet (minimum 30 Mbps upload speed)
- · Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate
- · Experience in legal, administrative, or financial environments
- · Interest in estate law, non-profit work, or probate administration
