Summary
Civitech is a public benefit corporation dedicated to creating a fairer and more equitable democracy through civic technology and infrastructure. The Business Development Representative will expand Civitech’s partner base by identifying, engaging, and qualifying campaigns, organizations, unions, and government bodies, while managing outreach, relationships, and the sales pipeline.
Responsibilities
- As a Business Development Representative, you will be a key driver of Civitech's growth and impact. You will be responsible for identifying, connecting with, and qualifying potential partners who can benefit from our suite of tools to advance their progressive missions, grow their base, and better connect with their constituents and communities
- Proactively identify and research potential partners, including Democratic campaigns, progressive organizations, unions, non-profits, and political committees, who align with Civitech's mission
- Utilize a multi-channel outreach strategy, including cold emailing, social media engagement, and phone calls to initiate contact and generate interest
- Build and maintain targeted prospect lists, ensuring data accuracy within our CRM system (HubSpot)
- Stay informed about the political landscape, election cycles, and key issues to identify timely opportunities for engagement
- Clearly and compellingly articulate Civitech's value proposition, demonstrating a deep understanding of our offerings and the ideal personas for adoption
- Conduct initial discovery calls with prospective partners to understand their needs, goals, and challenges
- Qualify leads based on established criteria to determine if they are a good fit for Civitech’s services and prepare them for the next steps in the sales pipeline
- Schedule and coordinate meetings and product demonstrations between qualified prospects and the sales team
- Nurture early-stage relationships, providing relevant information and resources to build trust and maintain engagement
- Meticulously track all outreach, communication, and lead status in the CRM to ensure a healthy and organized sales pipeline
- Collaborate closely with the VP of Sales and sales team to develop and refine outreach strategies, messaging, and campaign tactics
- Provide feedback to the sales and marketing teams on market response, lead quality, and campaign effectiveness
- Work with the broader Civitech team to stay up-to-date on new product features and capabilities
Skills

- - You have 1-3 years of relevant experience in a business development, sales development, or a similar client-facing role, with demonstrated ability in the following areas:
- - Hands-on experience identifying and researching potential partners in a targeted, methodical way
- - Proven success using a combination of email, phone calls, and social media to initiate contact and generate interest
- - Skill in conducting initial discovery conversations to understand partner needs and determine if there is a strong potential for partnership
- - Proficiency in using a CRM (like Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar) to track activities and manage a pipeline of prospective partners
- All applicants must possess independent US work authorization
- - Experience working or volunteering on a political campaign, for a nonprofit, or within a progressive advocacy organization
- - Familiarity with the political and civic technology landscape, including a general understanding of voter data and its applications
- - Prior experience in a high-growth SaaS (Software as a Service) or technology startup environment
- - Proven ability to thrive and stay self-motivated in a remote-first work environment
