Job description

Summary

Clausen Miller P.C. is a national and international law firm focused on insurance defense and complex litigation. The firm is seeking a Litigation Associate Attorney to handle first-party property, professional liability, and general casualty defense matters from initial investigation through trial, including client advising, discovery, depositions, motion practice, and court appearances.

Responsibilities

  • Communicating regularly with clients and developing those relationships over time
  • Advising clients on case status, arbitrations, and other proceedings
  • Drafting and responding to written discovery
  • Preparing legal memoranda, briefs, and status reports
  • Taking and defending depositions
  • Drafting motions and engaging in motion practice
  • Appearing in court for hearings and other proceedings

Skills

  • Active license and good standing with the Illinois or Indiana State Bar
  • Strong written and oral advocacy skills
  • Careful attention to detail and sound legal judgment
  • Ability to manage matters independently while contributing to a team
  • 1–3 years of litigation experience preferred
  • First-year attorneys with prior civil litigation exposure or comparable experience
