Convoy of Hope’s Purchasing team helps each division streamline operations, build strong vendor relationships, and seek advantageous rates as part of Convoy’s commitment to good stewardship. Students working with the Purchasing team will research vendors and procurement trends, review and analyze data, help develop training materials, and support real-world operations that make a tangible difference. Their service will help ensure that relief efforts succeed, providing a meaningful experience and the satisfaction of contributing to a life-changing mission.

Title: Purchasing Intern Working Group: PurchasingDivision: Finance Reports to: Purchasing DirectorGeneral Track DescriptionThe Purchasing Intern will work closely with the Purchasing team to support variouspurchasing activities, such as data analysis, project management, innovation, and other tasksthat support the mission of Convoy of Hope. The Purchasing Intern should have an interest inthe faith-based ministry of Convoy of Hope and will be invited to attend chapel services andprayer.Desired Learning Outcomes1. Students will build foundational skills in organizational leadership, process design, andcost-effective purchasing processes.2. Students will gain hands-on experience with purchasing workflows and ERP systems.3. Students will understand how purchasing contributes to humanitarian work and helpsestablish team culture through intentional stewardship.Essential Duties & Responsibilities1. Assists with purchasing and vendor research2. Creates proposals for org-wide process improvements3. Supports the preparation of data analytics and dashboarding4. Helps maintain purchasing documentation5. Communicates with internal departments6. Assists with budgeting and forecasting activities7. Conducts data entry and cleanup8. Helps create training materials9. Assists with special projects as assigned by the purchasing teamKnowledge, Skills & Abilities1. Currently pursuing a degree in business, nonprofit business, procurement, finance,accounting, or a related field2. Maintain confidentiality, both internally and externally3. Strong academic record4. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills5. Strong attention to detail6. Proficiency in Google Suite, Microsoft Excel, and other financial software7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills8. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment9. Positive attitude and willingness to learn10. Positively represents the ministry of Convoy of Hope, including its mission statementand core values, to all outside constituenciesPossible Projects Associated With This Track1. Data analytics dashboarding and templates2. Development of org-wide training materials and internal communications3. Procurement trends and forecastingThis is a non-paid internship position. The Purchasing Intern will work closely with thePurchasing team and gain valuable experience in various aspects of purchasing, organizationalleadership, and data analytics. The internship will provide an opportunity for the candidate tolearn and apply the concepts and principles of purchasing in a real-world setting.Semesters Available: FA, SP, SU Updated: 012/2025
