Summary
Deeplocal is an internationally recognized innovation studio that develops physical experiences and innovative products for brand clients. The New Business Strategist will prospect and procure new clients, develop strategic business opportunities, represent Deeplocal’s capabilities, and lead client communications and pitches. The role also manages RFPs, CRM activity, business development materials, reporting, and collaboration with creative and technical teams.
Responsibilities
- Brand Representation – Learn and demonstrate a strong understanding of Deeplocal’s capabilities, process and positioning within our industry; know what our brand would (and wouldn’t) do, and how our brand would (and wouldn’t) act; and communicate this in spades in the marketplace
- Prospecting and Strategy - Analyze market conditions, identify target customer segments, and create a comprehensive plan to effectively reach and convert potential customers
- Pitching – Present Deeplocal’s offering in a compelling way that wins new work and builds enthusiasm for the brand. Work collaboratively to bring in the right stakeholders to the conversation at the right time
- Client Communication – Bring insight-driven, strategic thinking to conversations with new client prospects; communicate Deeplocal’s integrated process, brand, and unique position in the industry. Use a clear, direct communication style to manage relationships into new client contracts
- Relationship Strengthening – Visit/virtually meet with existing clients and brainstorm about projects we could work on together; energize and excite clients about these possibilities. Understand what individual clients are looking for in a partner, and understand their brief with the ability to read between the lines
- Strategic selling - Help to sell concepts and experiences that make sense for both the client and Deeplocal
- Business Brief Development for Pitches - Write creative briefs and lead conversations with prospective clients that extract the necessary information for our teams to be successful creatively. Ask the right questions to understand clients’ goals and objectives. Be your client’s internal spokesperson, telling their story and communicating their business challenges to internal teams
- Pitch Deck Review - Provide input and review pitch decks and budgets. Assist in developing the overall story, content and messaging strategy. Support creative and technical team leads as necessary to develop and finalize materials for pitches. When required, contribute to writing the final copy. Ensure decks and content are meticulously reviewed and proofread for accuracy and error-free presentation
- Request for Proposal (RFP) Procurement & Oversight: Procure and internally communicate new RFPs. Manage the RFP process to ensure exceptional and timely delivery
- CRM Management – Maintain an organized, detail-oriented process for capturing and tracking sales leads along the funnel within Deeplocal’s CRM platform
- Reporting and Analysis – Provide weekly reporting on items such as new leads, upcoming meetings, RFP development. Conduct post-mortem analyses of closed deals to identify success factors and areas for improvement, using data-driven insights to refine sales strategies
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business or a relevant field, and/or 2-4 years working in a related role, ideally client-facing, preferably in experiential, interactive marketing
- An easy-going and engaging communication style in front of clients and teammates
- A natural ability to bring sharp strategic insights to your work and build coherent and compelling narratives
- Technically minded, able to understand complex concepts and explain them to others with varying levels of technical proficiency
- Confidence in making creative decisions and giving/receiving feedback that improves the quality of the work, pushes the boundaries of the brief, and reinforces the unique perspective of Deeplocal
- Excited by new challenges, and bringing a growth mindset
- Comfortable with developing strategies *and* implementing them; you'll be wearing many hats at first
- Aptitude to lead and project manage new business pitches
- Highly organized with exceptional communication skills and attention to detail
- Exceptional writing (short- and long-form) and storytelling skills
- Flexibility and adaptability to a fast-paced work environment with an ability to work under tight deadlines with a sense of urgency
- Willingness to work extended hours and on weekends when necessary
- Proficiency with software tools including Google Workspace (G Suite), email marketing platforms (Mailchimp or similar), and CRMs (Hubspot, Sugar, etc)
- This position is open to remote candidates outside of Pittsburgh, PA, but candidates must be willing to travel to Pittsburgh and/or client locations as required for training and business development efforts
