Job description

Summary

Expion Health is building pharmacy economics solutions that align cost, clinical decisions, and performance. The Data Analyst, Pharmacy Analytics will pull and validate pharmacy claims data, maintain reports and dashboards, monitor pharmacy trends, support ad hoc analyses, and improve data-quality and operational processes.

Responsibilities

  • Pull and validate pharmacy claims and related operational data using Snowflake, SQL, and other analytics platforms
  • Build, maintain, and enhance recurring reports and dashboards, and troubleshoot issues in partnership with technical owners
  • Monitor utilization, cost, rebate yield, share-shift, and drug trend data
  • Perform quality control on everything you produce, reconcile totals and mappings, investigate results that don't look right, and independently validate all outputs, including those from AI-assisted tools
  • Support data requests and ad hoc analyses from Clinical, Client Operations, and Analytics, including pre- and post-implementation analyses for clinical, formulary, or business changes
  • Manage recurring operational processes such as Medi-Span reporting and file distribution
  • Handle formulary-related requests outside the primary formulary-management workflow, including one-off analyses, exceptions, and research
  • Clarify scope and turnaround with requestors, and bring client-facing conclusions and unresolved issues to your Manager before release
  • Document the reports, queries, and processes you own, support cross-training and backup coverage, and look for ways to simplify and automate routine work

Skills

  • 2+ years of experience in analytics within a pharmacy, PBM, or health plan setting
  • Bachelor's degree in business, analytics, healthcare, information systems, finance, or a related field
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and working with large datasets
  • Working knowledge of SQL, with the ability to read, modify, and troubleshoot existing queries
  • Demonstrated ability to perform quality control and validate analytical work before it goes out the door
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify root causes
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and requests
  • Willingness to learn and apply new systems and tools, including approved automation or AI-assisted tools, while independently validating all outputs
  • A high level of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities
  • Snowflake experience
  • Experience building or maintaining dashboards or BI reporting in Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools
  • Reporting and trend analysis experience
  • Experience with Medi-Span or other drug-reference data
  • Exposure to pharmacy rebate, formulary, or financial reporting
