Summary
Family Dollar is a retail company focused on customer-centric, data-driven store planning and merchandising initiatives. The Store Planning Technical Analyst leads the application of Macro Space Analytics to store plans, renovations, new stores, and special projects, using sales, productivity, and customer feedback data to develop space standards. The role also supports store planners, documentation, reporting, and training for store planning formats and projects.
Responsibilities
- This role will leverage sales and productivity data, and customer feedback to identify appropriate space standards for store layouts, including category size, placement and adjacencies
- The Technical Analyst will need to be proficient in the ability to draw new stores, renovation stores, and special projects
- Iteratively applying Macro Space analytics to store Layouts and developing Merchandise Plans
- The Technical Analyst will assist store planners to the current format methodology. This person will serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) representing Store Planners in the practical use and critical functions required to support production related activities as well as reporting
- As assigned, the Technical Analyst will have one primary focus area of responsibility. This may be support for New Stores, Renovations, Freezer/Cooler Projects, or Special Project requests from the field or executive team
- The Technical Analyst will be responsible for supporting leadership with documentation for all current Store Planning formats. This includes, but is not limited to, the Store Planning Standards Documents and Team tools
- The Technical Analyst will be responsible for supporting Store Planning team with developing/executing training for all formats and projects
- Follows all Company policies and procedures

Skills
- Minimum two years retail store planning experience; accountability for managing/leading a work group to achieve specific results
- Ability to use logic and methods to solve problems, probes for answers and looks beyond the obvious
- Ability to self-manage projects
- Complete assignments with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment; excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Above average AutoCAD skills, Share point, MS Office, Above average Excel skills
- Bachelor's Degree and/or equivalent work experience in Interior Design, Architecture, or related field of study
- Ability to think outside the box is paramount
- The ability to multitask and organize workload is required
- This person must be able to adapt very well to change, manage the interest of multiple groups while driving the project towards an overarching goal
- Strong interpersonal skills are required
- AutoCAD, MS-Office Applications
- Experience in AutoCAD, Construction, Site Planning and/or Space Planning Concept, Corporate or field-based retail experience
