Summary
HDR is an employee-owned engineering and design company focused on transportation infrastructure and connected communities. The Geotechnical Designer/EIT will perform geotechnical analyses and design for infrastructure projects, oversee subsurface exploration programs, prepare technical documents, and coordinate with project managers and senior geotechnical staff.
Responsibilities
- Conduct analyses to develop design options or recommendations, and assist in the preparation of cost estimates, plans and specifications
- Oversee geotechnical subsurface characterization programs for routine work and in accordance with applicable standards. For oversight of subsurface exploration activities, up to 40% travel is expected
- Set up field exploration programs and coordinate with subcontractors
- Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedure
- Conduct slope stability and settlement analysis on routine and moderately sized projects
- Be capable of working independently or in a team environment assisting senior geotechnical staff
- Perform assignments exercising judgement in evaluation, selection, and modification of standard engineering techniques and procedures

Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering
- Experience with MS Office and software applications
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate
- Experience with CAD software (MicroStation) preferred
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Local candidates preferred
