Summary

In the role of Mechanical Designer/EIT, you will coordinate mechanical aspects of projects, perform engineering assignments, and prepare HVAC and plumbing design documents, contributing to the successful execution of commercial and institutional projects.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate mechanical aspects of commercial or institutional projects
- Perform routine mechanical engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
- Write and edit mechanical specifications, and select mechanical systems and devices
- Utilize engineering software to develop HVAC loads, energy analysis and size/select mechanical equipment
- Prepare construction documents for HVAC and plumbing design of buildings, including drawings, specifications and reports
- Assist in the development, production, and issuance of BIM documentation, using the necessary Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software
- Work independently on small projects, and/or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects
- Supervise work of Mechanical CAD Technicians, and coordinate design of assigned projects with architectural staff and other engineering disciplines
- Take responsibility for construction contract administration requiring shop drawing review, request for information (RFI) review, field inspections, and conflict resolution
- Perform other duties as needed
Skills
- Bachelor in Mechanical Engineering
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, Trane TRACE or similar software, and equipment selection software)
- An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must
- Master's degree in Architectural Engineering with Mechanical emphasis
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of 'Mechanical Designer' and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
- Healthcare, Science and Technology and/or Civic facilities experience
- Revit experience is required
- Previous HVAC experience
- Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED desired but not required
- Previous experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm
- Strong Communication skills, self-motivated, organized, attention to accuracy, detail oriented, flexible, and able to work both independently and with a project team to complete tasks
- Teachable. Willingness to be mentored by senior-level mechanical engineers
- Local candidates preferred
