Summary
H&R Block is a tax preparation and client services company seeking a seasonal Tax Associate. The role involves meeting with clients, gathering tax information, preparing accurate tax returns, explaining tax matters, identifying savings opportunities, and supporting office priorities through teamwork.
Responsibilities
- Meet with clients to gather information and understand their tax situation
- Prepare complete and accurate tax returns with training and support from experienced teammates
- Explain tax information clearly and provide recommendations in a way clients can easily understand
- Identify tax savings opportunities and recommend relevant products and services
- Apply problem-solving skills to analyze client information and address questions or unique situations with guidance and available resources
- Build strong client relationships and support office priorities through teamwork, collaboration, and a client-first approach
Skills
- Successful completion of the H&R Block Income Tax Course1
- Experience interacting with customers or clients in a service-oriented environment
- Strong communication skills, including explaining information clearly and asking questions to understand needs
- Problem-solving skills, including organizing information and identifying solutions
- Comfort using digital tools and systems included AI based tools like Copilot and ChatGPT
- High school diploma / GED/ equivalent
- Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
- Experience in a client-facing or consultative role, such as financial advising, insurance, retail sales, or professional services
- Experience asking questions and recommending solutions based on customer needs
- Ability to work 15–35 hours per week, with availability up to 40 hours during peak periods
- Availability to work evenings and weekends during tax season
