Job description

Summary

Intertek is a provider of quality, safety, and sustainability assurance solutions. The Consulting Business Development Manager will promote and sell Food Safety and Organizational Effectiveness & Leadership consulting services, manage the full sales cycle, develop new business, and support client retention. The role also involves proposal development, CRM and pipeline management, cross-functional collaboration, and up to 25% travel.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full sales cycle for new and existing consulting clients, from lead generation through opportunity closure
  • Respond to inbound leads, marketing-qualified leads (MQLs), and sales-qualified leads (SQLs) to identify and develop new business opportunities
  • Prospect for new clients through outbound business development activities and generate qualified sales opportunities
  • Conduct discovery meetings with prospects to assess business needs and present relevant consulting service solutions
  • Support customer retention efforts by identifying repeat business and upsell opportunities within existing accounts
  • Scope opportunities and prepare, deliver, and follow up on proposals to drive timely and successful deal closure
  • Maintain accurate sales records in the CRM system, effectively manage the sales pipeline, and provide reliable opportunity forecasting
  • Collaborate with the Business Operations Manager and cross-functional teams to ensure projects are appropriately scheduled and delivered, while meeting individual KPIs for sales, pipeline growth, and client engagement
  • Build strong internal and external relationships by partnering with Account Managers, Senior Account Executives, Marketing, and other Intertek business units to generate consulting opportunities and support lead generation initiatives
  • Represent the organization at trade shows, industry events, and client meetings, traveling up to 25% as needed to expand the client base, strengthen partnerships, and identify new business opportunities while participating in regular consulting team meetings and other assigned duties
