Job description

Summary

Jacobs is a company focused on solving the world's most critical problems for thriving cities and resilient environments. They are seeking a Junior Electrical Engineer to contribute to projects involving the engineering and design of data centers and other mission-critical facilities. The role involves design work, collaboration with teams, and management of project quality and scope.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design work
  • Contribute to team technical collaboration
  • Perform quality reviews of design packages
  • Assist directly with other portions of the design process
  • Interact directly with the client, owner, and contractors to assist construction on site
  • Work closely with the broader multi-discipline team in a fast paced, dynamic, collaborative environment to establish design requirements and produce construction documents
  • Engineering and design for data center facility power distribution systems, UPS, emergency systems, grounding, lighting, and low voltage communications systems in complex industrial facilities
  • Design may also include retrofit of existing building systems to accommodate our clients’ continually evolving requirements
  • Management of quality, scope, budget and schedule

Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline
  • 1 or more years' experience in engineering design of medium and low voltage distribution systems, building electrical systems, and campus-style power distribution including conveyance
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience with industrial facility design
  • Working knowledge of Revit or BIM software
  • Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) is preferred
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • At least 1 years of data center facility design experience
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
  • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
  • Passionate about buildings and construction
  • Experience in the design of large projects established on greenfield sites

Qualifications

Must Haves
