Summary
Jacobs is an engineering and consulting company delivering solutions for cities, environments, mission-critical facilities, and advanced manufacturing. The Electrical Engineer will support the engineering and design of data centers and other mission-critical facilities, including power distribution, UPS, emergency systems, grounding, lighting, and low-voltage communications. The role also involves technical collaboration, quality reviews, client and construction support, and management of quality, scope, budget, and schedule.
Responsibilities
- Provide design work, contribute to team technical collaboration, perform quality reviews of design packages, and assist directly with other portions of the design process
- Interact directly with the client, owner, and contractors to assist construction on site
- Work closely with the broader multi-discipline team in a fast paced, dynamic, collaborative environment to establish design requirements and produce construction documents
- Engineering and design for data center facility power distribution systems, UPS, emergency systems, grounding, lighting, and low voltage communications systems in complex industrial facilities
- Design may also include retrofit of existing building systems to accommodate our clients’ continually evolving requirements
- Additional responsibilities may include the management of quality, scope, budget and schedule
Skills
- • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related discipline
- • 3 or more years' experience in engineering design of medium and low voltage distribution systems, building electrical systems, and campus-style power distribution including conveyance
- • Extensive knowledge of and experience with industrial facility design
- • Working knowledge of Revit or BIM software
- • Effective verbal and written communication skills
- • Solid working knowledge of NFPA 70 (NEC) is preferred
- • Professional Engineer (PE) license
- • At least 3 years of data center facility design experience
- • Analytical and problem-solving skills
- • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
- • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base
- • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams
- • Passionate about buildings and construction
- • Experience in the design of large projects established on greenfield sites
