Job description

Summary

Jacobs develops engineering and infrastructure solutions for critical facilities, resilient environments, scientific discovery, and advanced manufacturing. The company is seeking a Mid-Level Mechanical Designer to support advanced industrial facilities projects by independently performing mechanical design assignments and creating HVAC and plumbing designs for construction. The role also involves gathering site conditions, coordinating with design and engineering professionals, and supporting project management and construction activities.

Responsibilities

  • You’ll independently perform mechanical design assignments with general technical guidance on unusual or complex problems
  • Your mechanical experience will be put to use to create HVAC and Plumbing designs for construction
  • There will be opportunities to be on project sites to gather existing HVAC and Plumbing conditions and during construction
  • You will coordinate work activities with other design and engineering professionals and project management

Skills

  • At least 5 years of experience of practical application experience of mechanical design, including HVAC load and plumbing calculations, equipment selections, and ductwork and plumbing system designs related to building systems
  • Proficient working knowledge of Revit software
  • General working knowledge of mechanical and plumbing codes
  • An understanding of clash detection, clash resolution and building system coordination
  • Ability to collaborate and work effectively in a variety of teams, including multi-disciplinary teams, with the client, and construction team
  • Passion for buildings and construction
  • Strong communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Forward thinking, eager to learn best practices, and contribute with innovative ideas
  • Displayed ability to learn quickly and driven to broaden knowledge base
  • Associates Degree in a related technical discipline is highly preferred
  • Industrial design experience including pharmaceutical manufacturing or similar
