Summary
Joliet Junior College is seeking a Sports Information Intern to assist the Sports Information Specialist in promoting and publicizing the college's athletic programs. This internship provides hands-on experience in sports media relations, content creation, and event management.
Responsibilities
- Assist in writing and distributing press releases, game previews and recaps to local media outlets
- Develop content for the athletic department's website and social media platforms, including photos and videos
- Help maintain accurate statistics for all sports teams and update historical records
- Attend home games and select away games to provide live updates, take photographs, and gather post-game quotes
- Assist in the production of media guides, game programs and other promotional materials
- Support the planning and execution of special events such as banquets, award ceremonies and press conferences
- Perform various administrative duties as needed, including data entry, filing, and answering inquiries
Skills
- Currently enrolled in a college or university, preferably with a major in Communications, Journalism, Sports Management, or a related field
- Strong writing and communication skills
- Knowledge of social media platforms and content management systems
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Willingness to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Familiarity with live-streaming or willingness to learn
- Photography and videography skills or interest a plus
