Job Title: Community Integration Services InternPosition Type: Unpaid InternshipHours: 8-16 Hours a Week, Flexible Scheduling within M-TH 9:30 AM-3:00 PMLocation: 2495 Main Street Buffalo, NY 14214 Ste 530Overview: The Community Integration Services Intern supports the Community Integration ServicesDepartment in providing services to refugees and other immigrant clients as they adjust to life in theBuffalo area. Our work is grounded in the goal of self-sufficiency. While staff and interns may initiallyassist clients with tasks that need to be completed, the focus is on teaching clients the skills andproviding the information they need to navigate their communities independently.Interns will work primarily within our program of initial resettlement (PIR) and Client Services programsunder the supervision and direction of experienced case management staff. Interns are expected tocommit to a minimum of 8 hours per week, scheduled in blocks of at least 4 hours at a time.Responsibilities:• Support case managers in preparing newly arriving refugees and immigrant families during theirfirst 90 days in the U.S.• Assist with preparing client apartments, including grocery shopping, organizing essentialsupplies, and setting up housing.• Teach clients how to use public transportation, including navigating the NFTA system and app.• Connect clients with community resources such as food pantries, libraries, banks, thrift stores,and other local services.• Conduct client check-ins and assist walk-in clients with paperwork, phone calls, and accessingcommunity services.• Support case management through administrative tasks, documentation, case notes,confidentiality, and collaboration with professional interpreters.Qualifications:• Currently enrolled in a college or university program, preferably in Social Work, Sociology,Anthropology, Human Services, or a related field.• Comfortable working respectfully and effectively with individuals and families from diversecultural backgrounds.• Strong interpersonal, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.• Dependable, flexible, self-motivated, and willing to learn and work independently after training.• Comfortable using public transportation and accompanying clients when needed.• Able to maintain professional boundaries and client confidentiality, with a commitment of atleast 8 hours per week in 4-hour blocks.Benefits:• Gain hands-on experience supporting refugees and immigrant clients as they adjust to life in anew community.• Develop strong communication, cultural competency, and interpersonal skills while workingwith diverse populations.• Build practical experience in case management, community resources, client support, andadministrative tasks.• Strengthen problem-solving, organization, teamwork, and professional communication skills.• Participate in professional development and gain a deeper understanding of refugeeresettlement and community services.How to Apply: To apply for the Operations Intern position, please submit your resume and a brief coverletter outlining your interest in the role and any relevant experience.
