Summary
KinderCare Learning Companies is an early childhood education and child care provider. The Accounting Analyst II will ensure grant funding and governmental awards are accurately recorded, monitored, reconciled, and reported while supporting compliance with accounting standards, grant requirements, and internal controls. The role also contributes to process improvements and financial and compliance audits.
Responsibilities
- Determine appropriate accounting treatment for grant awards and funding agreements; monitor grant funding, expenditures, reimbursements, and related activity to ensure accurate recording in the general ledger and supporting sub-ledgers
- Prepare detailed reporting and journal entries related to grant funding and supporting documentation; respond to requests related to financial and compliance audits
- Analyze financial statement variances and investigate significant or unusual activity
- Reconcile complex balance sheet accounts and investigate/resolve discrepancies
- Perform internal control activities and monitor compliance with established accounting and grant requirements; identify, document, and remediate control deficiencies; review and update accounting policies and procedures to support ongoing compliance; develop, document, implement, and execute new accounting processes and procedures as needed
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field
- 4+ years of corporate or public accounting experience
- Knowledge of U.S. GAAP and internal controls
- Experience researching and applying accounting guidance to complex transactions
- Experience analyzing financial statements, account reconciliations, journal entries, and variances
- Ability to identify accounting and compliance risks and develop practical solutions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
Qualifications
