The DevOps & Cloud Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines to enable rapid software delivery while ensuring system reliability and performance.
Responsibilities
- Design, deploy, and manage cloud infrastructure on AWS, GCP, or Azure using infrastructure-as-code such as Terraform or CloudFormation
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, building, and deployment processes
- Manage containerized workloads using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS, GKE, or AKS)
- Implement and maintain monitoring, logging, and alerting systems such as Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus, or CloudWatch
- Ensure system reliability, availability, and performance, leading incident response and post-mortem processes
- Manage cloud cost optimization and enforce infrastructure best practices
- Implement and maintain security controls across the infrastructure including IAM, secrets management, and network security
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve developer experience, tooling, and deployment workflows
- Manage environment configuration, secrets management, and environment parity
- Maintain infrastructure documentation and runbooks
Skills
- 3 to 5 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or Site Reliability Engineering
- Hands-on experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Proficiency with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Pulumi, or CloudFormation
- Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes)
- Strong experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, or CircleCI
- Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Bash, Python, or Go)
- Strong understanding of networking, security, and cloud architecture principles
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Reliable internet connection and a quiet, professional environment for team calls
- Availability to work US time zones
- Comfortable working as an independent contractor
- Cloud certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect, GCP Professional, or Azure Administrator
- Experience with service mesh technologies such as Istio or Linkerd
- Knowledge of GitOps workflows such as ArgoCD or Flux
- Experience with database management and scaling in cloud environments
- Familiarity with security compliance frameworks such as SOC 2 or ISO 27001
- Experience in a high-availability, high-traffic production environment
