Job description

Summary

RELX is hiring a Software Engineer III to support enterprise software services and platforms that deliver content to AI products. The role focuses on software design, development, testing, technical issue resolution, cloud-based services, monitoring systems, and operational system health.

Responsibilities

  • Perform moderately difficult research, design, and software development assignments within a specific software functional area or product line. Work on individual pieces of work and solve problems including the design of the program flow of individual pieces of code, effective coding, and unit testing. Interface with other technical personnel or team members to finalize requirements and designs of technical solutions. Write and review portions of detailed specifications for the development of system components of moderate complexity. Work closely with other development team members to understand moderately complex product requirements and translate them into software designs. Successfully implement development processes, coding best practices, and code reviews. Operate in various development environments (Agile, Waterfall, etc.) while collaborating with key stakeholders. Resolve technical issues as necessary. Keep abreast of new technology developments. Complete bug fixes. Perform other duties as needed

Skills

  • Master's degree (or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field required
  • 2 years of experience in job offered or related occupations required
  • 2 years of experience: utilizing core languages including Python, Java, C#, and JavaScript to build and support enterprise software services and platforms that deliver content to AI products
  • Using advanced concepts including object-oriented design principles and design patterns to effectively implement software functions that meet the standards of coding best practices
  • Writing high-quality, maintainable, and efficient production code in Java, C++, or Python, adhering to best practices, and ensuring that defects are found and fixed
  • Utilizing cloud platforms  including AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud, containerization tools including Docker and Kubernetes, and CI/CD practices and tools to build cloud-based software services and monitoring systems that support the overall global AI content platform
  • Using analytical and debugging skills to identify, analyze, and resolve complex issues
  • And taking ownership of the operational health of systems, including documentation, monitoring, logging, and participating in on-call rotations
