Summary
Sargent & Lundy is a leader in nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, currently seeking an Electrical Physical/Wiring Designer 1. This role involves utilizing drafting skills in a team environment, creating design drawings, and performing walkdowns at nuclear facilities.
Responsibilities
- Utilize and expand drafting skills in a multi-disciplined team environment with other designers and/or engineers in the preparation of design drawings based on design input
- Create drawings to scale showing relation of proposed installations to existing facilities and exact specifications and dimensions
- Perform walkdowns in operating nuclear plants and assist other designers on walkdowns at operating client facilities to gather information for design projects
- Interface with vendors and construction contractors to explain drawings and make appropriate design adjustments
Skills
- An Associate's Degree in drafting, or a high school diploma and equivalent technical design experience
- 8+ years drafting/design experience using standard computer drafting tools (i.e. AutoCAD or MicroStation)
- Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer
- Ability to multi-task from project to project
- Must be bilingual in Spanish and English (Read, Speak, and Write)
- Experience working in 3D cad software environments
- Knowledge of EDISON or other cable management software
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of technical plans, drawings, and models
- Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology, including the ability to relate various equipment to a technical design
