Summary
Spirax Group’s Electrical Thermal Solutions business, including Chromalox, provides electrical process heating and temperature management solutions. The Associate Application Engineer will analyze electric heat trace applications, develop customer-focused designs and quotes, and provide technical, sales, engineering, and order support. The role also coordinates cross-functional activities, manages pricing and margins, troubleshoots application issues, and supports process improvement projects.
Responsibilities
- Design and quote premium solutions for standard and customer-specific thermal heat trace applications
- Coordinate quotation and order entry activities with sales force, engineering, and plant personnel, including sample orders and drawings for approval
- Understand markets and competition in each market to manage quotations of competitive designs
- Assist sales engineers with expertise in offering optimal thermal solutions for unique applications
- Determine materials and related cost requirements for product designs by working with engineering and purchasing departments
- Manage pricing and margin targets for crucial accounts and new opportunities
- Become proficient in using product design and pricing tools
- Assist customers and representatives in troubleshooting common problems with equipment or applications
- Approve and support orders; strategically partner with design engineering and sales to be vital in designing and order support
- Lead meetings with engineering, production, project management, finance, and sales to gain visibility and communicate accurate dates to customers for large order opportunities
- Assist in documenting, analyzing, and improving processes
- Support or facilitate process improvement projects and strategic projects as required
Skills
- At least 1+ years of related experience; an appropriate technical degree or equivalent experience is required
- This position is primarily remote; however, the successful candidate must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of the assigned facility and be able to attend on-site meetings, training sessions, and other business-related activities as required
- Working experience with Microsoft programs such as Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc
- Experience in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with solid organizational skills and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in verbal, written, and presentation formats to all audiences
- Strong customer service and time management skills
- A Bachelor of Science degree in electrical, mechanical, or chemical engineering is preferred
- AutoCAD and Bluebeam experience preferred but not required
