Summary

The SQL Database Administrator Intern role provides hands-on exposure to enterprise Microsoft SQL Server environments, focusing on database platform operations, system health monitoring, and general SQL tasks under the guidance of experienced Database Administrators.
Responsibilities
- Assist in monitoring SQL Server environments for availability and system health
- Review database monitoring dashboards and alerting tools
- Validate successful execution of SQL Server Agent jobs
- Assist in verifying database backup operations
- Participate in supervised database restore testing in non-production environments
- Monitor disk utilization, storage growth, CPU usage, and memory trends
- Support capacity tracking and utilization reporting
- Assist in maintaining database inventories and environment documentation
- Review performance metrics and learn to identify potential tuning opportunities
- Participate in analysis of slow-running queries under DBA guidance
- Support routine database maintenance and health reviews
- Assist with security access reviews and documentation
- Maintain runbooks, operational procedures, and standard documentation
- Escalate identified issues in accordance with documented processes
- The intern will not perform independent production changes, deployments, or schema modifications
- Microsoft SQL Server architecture, internals, and core components
