SUMMARY:

The purpose of an internship is to help students gain practical experience, become acquainted with professionals in their field of interest, and develop an understanding of professional responsibilities and effective working relationships.

This position will deal heavily in transferring data from existing spreadsheets and other programs into the ArcGIS desktop suite of products. The GIS intern will create datasets of parcel-based zones for use in ArcGIS. The datasets created will be inspected for accurateness, therefore the ideal candidate must be detail oriented.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs mapping and analysis using the ArcGIS for Desktop software suite.
  • Performs data QA/QC and cleanup.
  • Creates maps as requested.
  • Assists GIS staff as required.

JOB QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a limited knowledge of ESRI GIS systems for editing data.
  • Must have at least a high school diploma; some GIS college experience is preferred.
  • Must be proficient in data management and excel.
  • Must be detailed oriented with a high drive to display accuracy.
