Job description

Summary

AvantGarde LLC is seeking an Associate Retirement and Benefits Specialist to support a federal client agency. The role provides retirement and benefits program administration, customer service, case processing, records management, and benefits support while assisting employees, retirees, family members, and beneficiaries with inquiries and transactions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide retirement and benefits customer service and administrative support by responding to inquiries, assisting employees, managers, retirees, family members, and beneficiaries, and providing information regarding Federal retirement and benefits programs, including FERS, CSRS, TSP, FEHB, FEDVIP, FEGLI, FLTCIP, and FSAFEDS
  • Receive, review, process, and maintain retirement and benefits actions and supporting documentation using automated systems such as eOPF, DFAS, EWITS, DPRW, and related HR applications, ensuring accurate records management, case tracking, and timely completion of assigned actions
  • Maintain electronic case files and personnel records by scanning, uploading, organizing, and validating retirement and benefits documents to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with records management requirements
  • Research routine retirement and benefits issues using established laws, regulations, policies, and procedures; prepare retirement estimates, benefits packages, correspondence, reports, and other supporting materials, and escalate complex matters to senior specialists as appropriate
  • Support new employee orientations, benefits briefings, training sessions, and outreach activities by preparing materials, coordinating logistics, and assisting presenters
  • Monitor workloads, provide status updates, coordinate with HR staff, managers, program officials, and external stakeholders, and manage multiple assignments while meeting established deadlines, quality standards, and customer service expectations
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and compliance with applicable Federal regulations, agency policies, and organizational standards while performing other related duties as assigned

Skills

  • · Minimum of three (3) years of experience supporting Federal retirement, benefits, human resources, or related administrative functions required; education-to-experience equivalency may be considered
  • · Working knowledge of Federal retirement and benefits programs, personnel policies, records management practices, and customer service principles
  • · Experience processing personnel, retirement, benefits, or related administrative actions and maintaining accurate electronic records and documentation
  • · Ability to research and apply regulations, policies, procedures, and guidance to resolve routine customer inquiries and administrative issues
  • · Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments, prioritize workload, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail
  • · Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide professional customer service to employees, managers, and stakeholders
  • · Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and experience utilizing automated HR, retirement, benefits, or case management systems such as eOPF, DFAS, EWITS, DPRW, GRB Platform, FHR Navigator, or similar applications
  • · Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment while maintaining confidentiality and compliance with applicable regulations and policies
  • · Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal Public Trust clearance or other required background investigation
  • · Work in a primarily sedentary telework environment, utilizing standard office technology, virtual collaboration platforms, and agency-provided systems, while participating in virtual or occasional in-person meetings, training sessions, orientations, and outreach activities as required
  • · Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field preferred
