Summary
BIOTRONIK is a global manufacturer of cardio- and endovascular medical devices. The Associate Field Clinical Specialist will provide technical and clinical support for cardiac rhythm management technologies, including pacemakers and implantable cardioverter-defibrillators, while completing a comprehensive training and certification program. The role involves supporting physicians, patients, and healthcare professionals in clinical settings, assisting with implants and follow-up care, and traveling within an assigned territory.
Responsibilities
- Support pacemaker and ICD implants, follow-up visits, clinical checks, and troubleshooting for BIOTRONIK patients and physician customers within an assigned territory
- Work under the guidance of certified team members until fully certified on the applicable product line. Independent clinical coverage is not permitted until the required product-specific certification has been obtained
- Develop and maintain technical knowledge of cardiac pacing, defibrillation, electrophysiology, and BIOTRONIK's bradycardia and tachycardia product lines
- Develop knowledge of competitive products, including their features, functions, and clinical benefits
- Participate actively in classroom instruction, field training, mentorship, supervised cases, and ongoing skills assessments
- Demonstrate technical proficiency and complete all required training and certifications within established timelines
- Provide education and in-service training to physicians, nurses, and technical hospital staff as experience and certification progress
- Accurately complete all required documentation associated with implants, clinic visits, follow-up checks, and other clinical activities
- Provide technical and administrative support for clinical and scientific studies, including data collection and support for clinical sites and patients, when required
- Assist local Sales Representatives and provide implant and follow-up coverage when needed
- Upon certification in applicable product lines, participate in an on-call rotation that provides 24-hour, seven-day-a-week territory coverage, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Travel within and outside the assigned territory for training, cross-coverage, emergency coverage, and other business needs
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering, Kinesiology, Exercise Science, Biology, or another related science-based discipline
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to develop confidence explaining complex therapies and technologies
- Ability to successfully complete all required classroom training, field training, supervised cases, skills assessments, and certification requirements within established timelines
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team
- Available to begin full-time employment following graduation, based on candidate availability and territory needs
- Upon applicable certification, able to participate in an on-call rotation providing 24-hour, seven-day-a-week territory coverage, including holidays, weekends, and evenings
- Available and willing to work and travel during evenings and weekends as business needs require
- Able to travel within and outside the assigned territory for training, clinical coverage, and other business needs
- Able to drive approximately 80% of the time within the assigned territory
- Must possess a valid driver's license, maintain an active vehicle insurance policy, and have a safe driving record
- Able to maintain continuous verbal and written communication while working in the field
- Frequent 2-handed lifting of up to 40 lbs. from floor to chair/table and from one to another surface at approximately the same level
- Sitting, standing and/or walking for up to eight plus hours per day
- Environmental exposures include eye protection, infectious disease and radiation
- Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls
- Ability to effectively use a mobile phone, PC, keyboard and mouse
- Frequent bending/stooping, squatting and balance
