Job description

Summary

Clark Associates is a foodservice equipment and supplies company seeking an Inventory Management Data Scientist for its Augmented Inventory Management team. The role develops and improves statistical, machine learning, forecasting, and optimization models that guide purchasing, allocation, replenishment, and inventory decisions. The position partners with Procurement and Operations to create actionable solutions, validate deployed models, and improve product availability and financial performance.

Responsibilities

  • **Model Development:** Create advanced statistical, and machine learning models that optimize inventory management processes, fostering efficient allocation and utilization of resources
  • **Collaboration:** Interface with stakeholders in procurement and operations to devise systematic solutions for intricate inventory management challenges
  • **Continuous Enhancement:** Research and implement enhancements to existing models, keeping abreast of emerging methodologies in the field
  • **Actionable Insights:** Extract meaningful insights from data and formulate actionable recommendations that tangibly bolster the company's financial performance
  • **Solution Validation:** Implement robust monitoring mechanisms to validate the efficacy of deployed solutions

Skills

  • Over 3 years of practical experience using SQL and optimization/statistical/machine learning programming (Python preferred, R and Matlab accepted)
  • Bachelor's degree in operations research, data science, statistics or a closely related quantitative field; alternatively, over 4 years of experience with an optimization, data, research, or applied science team
  • Demonstrated ability to swiftly acclimate to evolving environments, rapidly learn new skills, and apply them to intricate problem-solving scenarios
  • This role does not require a degree. We value relevant skills and experience and alignment with our core values above all else
  • Legal residents of one of the following states: (AK, AL, AR, AZ, CT, DE, FL, GA, IA, ID, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, ME, MI, MN, MO, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NH, NM, NV, OH, OK, PA, SC, SD, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WI, WV, and WY)
  • We only accept W-2 candidates, H-1B sponsorship is not available
  • Cable or fiber internet connections (at least 75mbps download/10mbps upload) are preferred
  • Familiarity with supply chain and warehouse stock optimization practices
  • Familiarity with building optimization models (E.g. OR-Tools, CPLEX, Gurobi)
  • Exposure to time series forecasting models
  • Experience with reporting tools like Power BI and Excel for sharing results
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to translate technical processes for non-technical audiences
  • Master's degree in data science, statistics, operations research, industrial engineering, or a closely related highly quantitative field
