Summary
CLEARSTEM is seeking a Staff Accountant II to serve as the operational backbone of its finance team. The role manages accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash reconciliation, payroll, general ledger accuracy, month-end close support, working capital reconciliations, and statutory compliance across a multi-channel CPG ecosystem.
Responsibilities
- Full-Cycle Accounts Payable & Cash Disbursements: Execute end-to-end AP workflowsincluding 3-way PO matching, vendor onboarding/W-9 collection, coding, and weekly payment runs via Bill.com and Ramp to optimize working capital
- Accounts Receivable & Cash Application: Reconcile daily cash receipts across Shopify DTC, Amazon Seller Central, and retail partners; monitor AR aging schedules to minimize Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) and bad debt exposure
- Semi-monthly Payroll & Benefits Accounting: Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll runs in HiBob HR, recording fully reconciled wage allocations, payroll taxes, 401(k) matches, and employee benefits journal entries in QuickBooks Online
- Cash Management & Corporate Card Reconciliation: Code daily bank feed activity and execute monthly reconciliations for all operating bank accounts and corporate cards (Ramp), ensuring zero unreconciled suspense transactions
- General Ledger & Month-End Close Support: Prepare monthly recurring and adjusting journal entries, roll forward prepaid schedules, accrue standard operating expenses, and maintain organized workpapers supporting the GL
- Working Capital Balance Sheet Reconciliations: Reconcile all key balance sheet accounts monthly, including Cash, AR, Inventory subledgers (Finale), AP, Accrued Expenses, and Undeposited Funds, while ensuring GAAP compliance and audit readiness
- Multi-State Sales Tax & Statutory Compliance: Review and reconcile monthly multi-state sales tax returns in Avalara; support statutory filings, 1099 reporting, and data collection requests for annual tax preparation and audit diligence
Skills
- 3–5 years of hands-on general ledger and transactional accounting experience, ideally within a high-growth CPG, retail, or eCommerce environment
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related business discipline; solid operational command of US GAAP principles
- Demonstrated proficiency with QuickBooks Online (or mid-market ERP) and advanced spreadsheet modeling (XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, SUMIFS)
- Exceptional attention to numerical accuracy, proactive problem-solving mindset, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, lean operating cadence
- Collaborative, low-ego team player who takes complete ownership of outcomes and reconciliations from start to finish
- Experience with Bill.com, Ramp, HiBob HR and Finance, Finale Inventory, or Avalara is strongly preferred
