Summary

The Controls Systems Engineer II will design, develop, test, and implement control system software for industrial refrigeration and HVAC equipment, collaborating with cross-functional teams to optimize performance, energy efficiency, and product validation.
Responsibilities
- Contribute as part of a growing engineering team addressing new control system needs in decarbonization and data center cooling
- Design, implement, test, and support control software for chillers and air handling units used in data centers, large facilities, and industrial environments
- Develop reliable and maintainable code using MATLAB/Simulink, applying model-based design principles for embedded systems
- Apply control theory fundamentals (modeling, simulation, statistics, data acquisition) to develop robust and efficient control solutions
- Analyze system and test data to support controller development, performance optimization, and product validation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including mechanical, electrical, and systems engineers throughout product development activities
- Participate in laboratory and field testing activities to validate control performance and troubleshoot issues
- Support technical reviews and contribute to continuous improvement of controls development processes
Skills
- BS in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Software Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
- 4-6 years of controls, automation, embedded systems, or related engineering experience, or an MS degree with relevant industry experience
- Experience developing control algorithms and software using MATLAB/Simulink
- Working knowledge of model-based design principles for embedded systems
- Familiarity with control systems concepts, modeling, simulation, and data analysis
- Experience supporting product development, validation testing, and troubleshooting efforts
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, fast-paced engineering environment
- Working ability to read and understand embedded C/C++ code and use scripting tools such as Python or MATLAB
