Summary
General Dynamics Mission Systems is seeking a Sr IT Project Specialist to support mission-critical technology work in a military internship setting. The role focuses on coordinating onboarding programs and IT projects, maintaining project tracking tools and documentation, facilitating communication across stakeholders, and helping identify and escalate risks, blockers, and schedule impacts.
Responsibilities
- Support the Sr IT Project Specialist with coordination of onboarding programs, program expansions, customer/stakeholder relationships, and assigned IT projects
- Attend daily IT stand-up meetings and assigned program meetings; communicate progress, priorities, dependencies, risks, and blockers
- Capture meeting notes, decisions, action items, assigned owners, and due dates; distribute meeting summaries and follow up on commitments
- Maintain and update Jira project boards, tasks, statuses, priorities, and associated documentation
- Create and maintain project schedules, milestone trackers, action-item logs, and status reports
- Coordinate remotely with system administrators, project team members, and stakeholders to clarify tasking, track progress, and resolve routine issues
- Assist with prioritizing work based on program timelines, stakeholder needs, operational impact, and direction from the IT Project Manager
- Prepare meeting agendas, stakeholder communications, project updates, and presentation materials for review
- Identify project risks, dependencies, schedule impacts, and blockers; promptly escalate items requiring leadership decision
- Support stakeholder communication and maintain professional, responsive relationships with internal customers and project participants
- Document procedures, templates, lessons learned, and repeatable project-management practices
Skills
- * Has served at least 180 days on active duty
- * Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
- * Will receive an honorable discharge
- * Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
- * Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
- * Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship
- Applicants selected will be subject to a U.S. Government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information
- Due to the nature of work performed within our facilities, U.S. citizenship is required
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Program Management, or a technical discipline or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience is required; plus a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience; or Master's degree
- Meets SkillBridge Qualifications as per DODI 1322.29

- Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire
