Summary
JR Metal Works is an American manufacturing company specializing in precision engineering, modern fabrication technology, and metal products. The Solutions Engineer prepares accurate and timely quotations for sheet metal fabrication projects by reviewing customer requirements, estimating costs and process times, determining manufacturing routings, and collaborating with sales and production teams.
Responsibilities
- Reviewing customer drawings, prints, specifications, and RFQs
- Develop accurate manufacturing cost estimates for fabricated sheet metal components and assemblies
- Calculate material, labor, machine, and outside processing costs
- Estimate process time for fabrication operations including, but not limited to: laser cutting, punching, forming, welding, machining, hardware insertion, finishing and powder coating, and assembly
- Determine appropriate manufacturing processes and routing
- Work closely with Sales Engineers, Production, and Sales Engineering Manager to clarify quote requirements. Position to report to ERP Manager
- Identify potential manufacturing efficiencies and cost-saving opportunities
- Ensure quotes are completed by JR Metal Works standards and within customer deadlines
- Communicate professionally with internal teams regarding quote status and technical questions
- Continuously improve estimating accuracy through feedback from completed jobs
Skills
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication estimating, quoting, manufacturing engineering, or a similar role
- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings and GD&T
- Understanding of manufacturing process times and labor standards
- Strong analytical skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft software
Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes
