Summary
The client is a growing B2B beverage importer managing imported and private-label brands across distributors, retailers, and supplier partners. The Accountant/Bookkeeper will own day-to-day bookkeeping, maintain reconciled QuickBooks records, prepare management reports, support close activities, and provide leadership with financial insights as the business grows.
Responsibilities
- Own day-to-day bookkeeping in QuickBooks — transaction entry, coding, and monthly account and bank reconciliations
- Reconciling and problem-solving discrepancies in A/P and A/R
- Build and run financial reports on demand for management, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and ad hoc analyses as business questions come up
- Maintain accounts payable and accounts receivable, including invoicing, vendor payments, and following up on outstanding balances
- Support month-end and year-end close, working with outside CPAs/tax preparers as needed
- Track and reconcile purchase orders and inventory-related transactions alongside the sales and compliance teams
- Maintain organized, audit-ready financial records and documentation
- Use Excel for reporting, reconciliations, and data analysis beyond what QuickBooks handles natively
- Flag discrepancies, cash flow risks, or unusual trends to leadership proactively rather than waiting to be asked

- Proven experience producing financial reports and reconciliations for a small or mid-sized business
- Medium-to-advanced Excel skills — comfortable with formulas, pivot tables, and building clean reporting views from raw data
- Based in Texas, with the ability to work remotely and be reliably available during core business hours
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through; comfortable owning numbers that leadership relies on
- Clear written and verbal communication — able to explain financial information to non-finance stakeholders
- Experience in beverage, food, distribution, or another regulated import/wholesale industry preferred
- Basic familiarity with Claude or similar AI tools, used to speed up reporting and administrative work preferred
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience preferred
