Summary
NC Management is a Business Operations, Accounting, and Fractional HR consulting firm partnering with scaling and growth-stage companies. The Senior Accountant will manage a portfolio of client engagements, overseeing monthly close, bookkeeping, financial reporting, compliance support, client communications, and process improvements while providing strategic financial insight.
Responsibilities
- Independently manage a portfolio of 8–15 clients, performing monthly/quarterly bookkeeping, reconciliations, and general ledger maintenance in client accounting systems (QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, Xero, etc.)
- Prepare accurate and timely financial statements (balance sheet, income statement, cash flow) and supporting schedules for client review
- Generate and deliver customized management reports, KPIs, budget-to-actual analyses, and financial dashboards; present findings to clients via phone, video, or in-person meetings
- Explain accounting processes, entries, and financial results to non-accounting client stakeholders in clear, non-technical language
- Identify and resolve discrepancies, recommend journal entries, and implement process improvements to enhance client financial close efficiency
- Support compliance requirements including sales tax filings, 1099 preparation, payroll tax reconciliations, and coordination with external CPAs for year-end tax preparation
- Assist clients with external audit and review engagements by preparing workpapers, responding to auditor requests, and reconciling audit adjustments
- Conduct virtual or on-site client training on accounting software, internal controls, and best-practice workflows
- Document client-specific procedures, policies, and month-end checklists to ensure consistency and facilitate smooth hand-offs
- Proactively monitor client deadlines (payroll, tax payments, filings) and communicate upcoming deliverables or risks to both the client and internal team
- Collaborate with Senior Consultants on complex technical matters, special projects (implementations, clean-ups, due diligence), and new client onboarding
- Maintain meticulous workpapers and uphold quality control standards in accordance with firm methodology and GAAP
- Other client-related duties and ad-hoc projects as assigned
Skills
- • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- • 2–4 years of progressive accounting experience (public accounting, industry, or outsourced/controllership environment strongly preferred)
- • Hands-on experience managing full-cycle accounting for multiple entities or clients simultaneously
- • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks Online (certification preferred), Xero, NetSuite, and Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, financial modeling)
- • Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and ability to research technical accounting topics
- • Exceptional client communication skills — ability to translate complex accounting concepts into actionable business insights
- • High degree of self-management: organizes tasks, meets recurring deadlines, and escalates issues appropriately with minimal supervision
- • Analytical mindset with keen attention to detail and a passion for process improvement
- • Professional presence and confidence when leading client meetings and presenting financial data
- • Ability to handle sensitive financial information with absolute discretion and integrity
- • Flexibility to occasionally travel to client sites or work outside standard hours during month-end/quarter-end peaks
- • Active CPA candidacy or license a plus
