Summary
Nordson Measurement & Control designs and produces process measurement and control instrumentation for manufacturing industries. The Field Service Engineer installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs equipment at customer sites while providing technical support, training, and service documentation. The role requires frequent travel throughout Illinois, Indiana, and surrounding areas.
Responsibilities
- Install, commission, and configure equipment according to company and customer requirements
- Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to ensure optimal equipment performance
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and software-related issues
- Repair and replace defective components and parts
- Respond promptly to service calls and customer support requests
- Document service activities, maintenance records, and repair reports accurately
- Provide technical training and operational guidance to customers and end users
- Collaborate with engineering, technical support, and sales teams to resolve complex issues
- Monitor equipment performance and recommend improvements or upgrades
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and industry standards
- Manage service tools, test equipment, and spare parts inventory
- Travel frequently to customer locations as required
Skills
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, Mechanical Engineering, or Military Equivalent. Experience in Industrial Technology, or a related field a plus
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
- Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems
- Ability to read technical drawings, schematics, and manuals
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and service management systems
- Valid driver's license and ability to travel extensively
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
- Ability to stand, bend, climb, and work in industrial environments for extended periods
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including occasional weekends and holidays
- Ability and willingness to occasionally travel internationally on an as needed basis
- 2+ years of field service, maintenance, or technical support experience preferred
