Job description

Summary

HealthPartners is a nonprofit, integrated health care organization providing health insurance and medical care. The Clinician New Hire Coordinator coordinates credentialing, hospital privileging, and third-party payer enrollment processes for newly hired physicians and advanced practice providers, ensuring completion before their start dates and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates the initiation of hospital privileging, HealthPartners credentialing, and third-party payer enrollment of physicians, nurse practitioners, optometrists and other advance practice providers
  • Tracks each process for the new hire and provides progress reports to management staff on an as-needed basis
  • Maintains close communication with the new hire and the various credentialing organizations to problem-solve issues that arise with each of the processes in a timely manner
  • Provides back-up support to the Physician Payroll Training and CME Reimbursement Coordinator and the Physician Services Database Administrator
  • Coordinates with the Physician Services enrollment staff, the HealthPartners Credentialing Services Bureau, community hospitals and other agencies to initiate the credentialing, privileging, and third-party payer enrollment processes for newly hired practitioners and current medical staff. Acts as resource to the practitioners throughout each of the processes
  • Develops procedures and tools to orchestrate timely completion of credentialing, privileging, and enrollment processes. Tracks and communicates with newly hired practitioners and appropriate organizations to solve issues as they arise
  • Acts as a liaison between recruitment, physician administrators, department heads, credentialing agencies and/or area hospitals and the practitioner as a means to facilitate these processes
  • Compiles a monthly progress report for distribution to management and other staff
  • Effectively works with other staff, such as department administrators and managers, by identifying, clarifying and resolving problems related to the credentialing processes
  • Maintains working relationships with both internal and external customers and successfully communicates both verbally and in writing with practitioners, hospitals, and other staff as appropriate
  • Creates procedures to keep department heads, clinic chiefs and other physician leaders apprised of the status of their staff in relation to any of the three processes identified above. Notifies medical leaders and management staff when processes have been completed
  • Keeps abreast of current various regulatory standards and government regulations with regards to credentialing, privileging, and enrollment
  • Assists HealthPartners medical staff with licensing, adding hospital privileges, DEA certificates and renewals, and reappointments
  • Other duties as assigned

Skills

  • Associate degree with two to four years of experience in a similar setting or four to six years of experience in a position with related responsibilities, preferably with a health care facility or an insurance company
  • Two years previous credentialing experience
  • Demonstrated interpersonal and organizational skills, strong attention to details
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, manage projects, and meet deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees in different departments and various organizations
  • Ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to multi-task and work under pressure
