Summary
Project Management Institute is seeking an Insights & Foresight Specialist to support its research agenda. The role combines hands-on insights research, business analysis, and foresight research focused on macroeconomic, industry, technology, artificial intelligence, and future-of-work developments to inform evidence-led thought leadership and strategic priorities.
Responsibilities
- You will support PMI’s research agenda across two complementary areas, with responsibilities balanced between hands-on insights research — survey, qualitative, and secondary studies that inform thought leadership — as well as business analysis and foresight research that connects macroeconomic, industry, and technology developments to PMI’s thought leadership priorities
- The role carries a particular, though not exclusive, emphasis on artificial intelligence (AI) and the future of work
- Working in coordination with the Manager, Research & Insights, you will help ensure PMI’s thought leadership is evidence-led, forward-looking, and aligned to business priorities
Skills
- Bachelor's degree required
- 3–6 years of experience in research, insights, analytics, strategy, or related roles such as management consulting, corporate strategy, or macroeconomic or industry research
- Experience researching, analyzing, or advising on AI trends, technology disruption, or the future of work
- Demonstrated experience leading trends, foresight, or macroeconomic research initiatives independently
- Experience translating research into executive-facing insights, narratives, and strategic recommendations
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with demonstrated methodological rigor
- Comfort with both qualitative/survey research and quantitative techniques (e.g., segmentation, benchmarking, driver analysis), including the ability to help identify measurable variables from business questions
- Demonstrated working knowledge of the AI landscape and its trajectory, including ability to assess credibility of claims and translate technical developments into business and professional implications
- Experience in macroeconomic analysis and trends/foresight techniques
- Structured problem-solving and hypothesis-driven thinking honed in consulting or strategy environments
- Ability to synthesize complex, multi-source information into clear, strategic insight
- Strong quantitative and qualitative research skills
- Comfortable using AI tools in day-to-day work
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including executive-ready storytelling
- Ability to operate independently and manage ambiguity in an asynchronous remote environment
- Intellectually curious; able to stay current in a fast-moving AI and technology landscape
- Collaborative mindset with ability to influence without authority
- Fluent in English (PMI's business language)
- Master's strongly preferred in economics, business, public policy, international relations, strategy, computer science, or related field
- Experience working in matrixed, cross-functional, or global environments preferred
- Preference for candidates with labor, workforce, or future-of-work interest or expertise; familiarity with project and portfolio management or professional-services domains a plus
