Summary
rater8 is a healthcare technology company focused on reputation management and online visibility for medical practices. The Sales Engineer will partner with Sales, Product, Engineering, and customers to conduct technical discovery, deliver tailored demonstrations, validate solutions, and support complex enterprise healthcare sales opportunities. The role will also help develop scalable technical sales resources and processes.
Responsibilities
- **Technical discovery:** Understand a prospect's existing technology stack, EHR environment, workflows, integrations, security requirements, and technical success criteria
- **Product demonstrations:** Deliver tailored demos that focus on the prospect's priorities and use cases—not a generic feature tour
- **Technical validation:** Identify potential technical blockers early and work with internal teams to determine what's possible, what's required, and the best path forward
- **Enterprise conversations:** Represent rater8 in discussions with IT, security, digital, marketing, patient experience, and executive stakeholders
- **Integrations:** Help prospects understand how rater8 connects with EHRs and other systems, including APIs, data exchange, authentication, SSO, and related workflows
- **Security and RFP support:** Own or support technical responses for RFPs, security questionnaires, architecture questions, and enterprise technology reviews
- **Solution design:** Work with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Success to define solutions for more complex customer environments
- **Sales enablement:** Build technical resources, demo assets, diagrams, documentation, and repeatable processes that make the entire sales team more effective
- **Voice of the market:** Identify recurring technical requirements and communicate them clearly to Product and Engineering

Skills
- You don't need to be a software engineer, but you need to be technically credible, naturally curious, and comfortable going deep when the conversation requires it
- 3+ years in Sales Engineering, Solutions Engineering, Solutions Consulting, or a similar customer-facing technical role
- Experience supporting complex SaaS sales cycles
- Strong technical discovery and product demonstration skills
- Working knowledge of APIs, integrations, data exchange, authentication, SSO, and modern SaaS architecture
- Familiarity with EHR/EMR environments and healthcare interoperability
- Understanding of HIPAA, security reviews, SOC 2, and the expectations of enterprise healthcare IT teams
- The ability to translate technical concepts into clear business outcomes for non-technical stakeholders
- RFP Ownership Experience
- Strong judgment. You know when to answer, when to dig deeper, and when to bring in Product or Engineering
- A commercial mindset. You understand that technical expertise is most valuable when it helps customers make confident buying decisions
- US Residents only. Must reside in the continental U.S., be authorized to work without sponsorship, and not reside in California
- You've worked for a healthcare technology company and have firsthand experience navigating enterprise healthcare sales
- Experience working with health systems, medical groups, DSOs, hospitals, or other complex healthcare organizations is a significant plus
- Healthcare SaaS experience is strongly preferred
