SCOTUSblog provides detailed coverage of Supreme Court cases from the certiorari stage through merits arguments and decisions. It is a sub-organization of The Dispatch.

Job description

Summary

SCOTUSblog is an independent source of Supreme Court news and analysis owned by The Dispatch. The Enterprise Account Executive will convert institutional interest in SCOTUSblog Plus into signed, renewing subscriptions by managing inbound leads and building outbound pipelines across courts, law schools, university libraries, and law firms. The role will also support advertising and sponsorship partnerships, customer handoffs, negotiations, and pipeline reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Respond quickly to group and site-license inquiries from courts, law schools, and firms. Qualify them, run discovery calls, and move them to a signed agreement
  • Route small teams (under 10 seats) to self-service. Focus your time on deals with upsell or site-wide potential
  • Build and send quotes, handle procurement and pricing negotiations, and manage paperwork like terms of service, vendor forms, purchase orders, and government registration requirements
  • Prospect law school and university libraries, circuit and district court libraries, and Am Law 200 firms, reaching the librarian, knowledge management lead, or practice group owner who buys
  • Run personalized, paced outreach. We value a timely, thoughtful follow-up over a mass email blast
  • Coordinate warm introductions with SCOTUSblog's editors and leadership, then take over and run the sales process
  • Help shape pricing and packaging for each segment by bringing back what buyers tell you
  • Hand closed deals to community management with everything needed to provision access (domains, admins, start dates, billing contacts)
  • Engage with customer throughout the year on usage and maximizing value of their membership to enable upsells and retention
  • Keep the CRM current and report weekly on pipeline, bookings, and forecast
  • Prospect new sponsors and advertisers, including law firms, legal tech, legal publishers, and advocacy and policy organizations
  • Book and run first calls, qualify interest, and pass qualified opportunities to the partnerships team with clear notes
  • Help package SCOTUSblog inventory (newsletters, site placements, live-blog sponsorships, events) into proposals

Skills

  • 2 to 5 years of B2B or institutional sales experience, with a record of hitting a quota
  • Poise and polish. You can run a call with a big law firm's head of knowledge management or a circuit court librarian and earn their trust
  • Comfort with a long, procurement-heavy sales cycle: quotes, vendor paperwork, purchase orders, fiscal year timing
  • Disciplined follow-up and organization. Nothing falls through the cracks, even with dozens of open conversations at once
  • Clear, concise writing. Your emails get answered
  • A builder's mindset. Our playbook is still being written, and you'll help write it
  • Experience selling subscriptions or licenses to law firms, law libraries, universities, or government (for example legal research, information services, or media)
  • Familiarity with how courts, law schools, and firms buy content, including librarians, KM teams, and procurement
  • Experience selling B2B subscriptions or sponsorships at a news or media company
  • A real interest in the Supreme Court and the legal world
  • Experience with Salesforce or HubSpot and a subscription platform like Piano
