Summary
Spee Dee Delivery is a family-owned company that specializes in standard, next-day, ground delivery. The Junior System Administrator will manage and support servers, networks, and user systems while ensuring security and reliability, troubleshooting technical issues, and collaborating with teams to maintain efficient IT operations.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, and related hardware
- Troubleshoot hardware, software, email, login, and connectivity issues
- Assist with installation, configuration, and maintenance of Windows operating systems and business applications
- Create, modify, and disable user accounts, permissions, and access rights in Active Directory and other systems
- Support onboarding and offboarding processes including equipment setup and recovery
- Monitor system performance and report issues or outages to senior IT staff
- Assist with maintenance of servers, network equipment, backups, antivirus, and security updates
- Document IT procedures, troubleshooting steps, inventory, and support tickets
- Help maintain company phone systems, wireless devices, and communication tools
- Coordinate with vendors and service providers for support and repairs as needed
- Follow company cybersecurity policies and assist with security best practices
- Maintain confidentiality of company and employee information
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills
- 1-3 years of experience in system administration, network administration, or a related IT role required
- Experience managing Windows and/or Linux server environments
- Proficiency with Windows and/or Linux server administration, including Active Directory, Group Policy, and user management
- Experience with networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and routing)
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, Hyper-V, or similar)
- Knowledge of cloud platforms such as Microsoft Azure or AWS
- Strong understanding of backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions
- Hands-on experience with patch management and endpoint security tools
- Ability to script or automate tasks using PowerShell, Bash, or Python
- Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with a proactive mindset
- Strong documentation skills and attention to detail for compliance and process improvement
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to support end users and collaborate across teams
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to lift, carry, or move IT equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. as needed for installation or maintenance
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education, certifications, and experience will be considered
