Summary
AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking a BD/Marketing Specialist to support external marketing, public relations, corporate storytelling, content development, awards, events, and strategic communications. This early-career role develops customer-relevant content, coordinates marketing projects and events, supports digital marketing operations, and helps strengthen company visibility and Business Unit growth.
Responsibilities
- Support integrated external marketing and communications initiatives aligned with company strategy, Business Unit priorities, target markets, and growth objectives
- Research, draft, edit, proofread, and coordinate content for external and internal communications
- Develop and maintain marketing collateral, including capability statements, fact sheets, brochures, solution overviews, presentations, executive biographies, project summaries, customer-impact stories, event materials, and promotional products
- Partner with technical subject-matter experts, program leaders, and Business Unit stakeholders to identify and communicate meaningful customer outcomes, technical capabilities, innovations, employee-owner stories, and differentiators
- Translate complex technical, operational, and mission-focused information into concise, accurate, and engaging content for customers, industry audiences, employees, recruits, partners, and other stakeholders
- Assist with development of content for the company website, digital campaigns, company announcements, executive communications, thought-leadership materials, news releases, social media, and other corporate channels
- Support the maintenance of a consistent company voice, visual identity, message discipline, and brand standards across assigned materials
- Maintain organized content libraries, approved boilerplate, brand assets, templates, photographs, videos, project summaries, executive biographies, and other reusable communications materials
- Support public-relations and media-relations activities, including drafting news releases, media pitches, background materials, executive talking points, company profiles, and award announcements
- Monitor industry news, competitor activity, customer milestones, contract awards, company initiatives, and relevant market developments for external communications opportunities
- Assist with identifying and developing story ideas that increase awareness of AMERICAN SYSTEMS’ capabilities, employee-owner culture, community impact, technical expertise, and mission support
- Support coordination with external public-relations, media, creative, web, and other communications vendors
- Help prepare leaders and subject-matter experts for interviews, speaking engagements, panels, award events, customer meetings, and other external-facing opportunities
- Track and report media coverage, press-release distribution, content placement, audience engagement, and other public-relations performance measures
- Coordinate development of corporate, industry, workplace, customer, executive, and employee recognition submissions
- Research award programs, ranking opportunities, certifications, and recognition platforms that align with company priorities
- Gather content, metrics, testimonials, project information, and stakeholder input needed to develop accurate, compelling nomination packages
- Draft, edit, format, and manage review cycles for award nominations, corporate rankings, executive biographies, award announcements, and related promotional content
- Support development of thought-leadership content, including articles, bylined pieces, executive posts, presentations, speaking abstracts, panel submissions, and industry-award content
- Maintain an annual awards and recognition calendar, including deadlines, submission requirements, status, outcomes, and promotional follow-up opportunities
- Support planning, coordination, and execution of conferences, trade shows, sponsorships, customer events, webinars, executive forums, industry association activities, and other external-marketing initiatives
- Assist with event strategy, project plans, timelines, budgets, registration, vendor coordination, sponsorship deliverables, booth and exhibit logistics, promotional products, signage, shipping, and event-day execution
- Create event communications, including invitations, attendee materials, presentation support, briefing books, social-media content, follow-up emails, and post-event summaries
- Work with internal stakeholders and external vendors to ensure events align with company priorities, brand standards, customer audiences, and visibility goals
- Track event participation, expenses, stakeholder feedback, customer and partner interactions, media opportunities, content opportunities, and post-event follow-up actions
- Support assessment of event and sponsorship effectiveness and recommend adjustments to improve future participation and investment
- Assist with content development, maintenance, and quality assurance for the AMERICAN SYSTEMS website, landing pages, newsletters, email campaigns, social media, and digital marketing materials
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors on website content, graphic design, print production, digital assets, video, photography, and other creative deliverables
- Support editorial calendars, content schedules, project workbacks, review cycles, approval workflows, and publishing coordination
- Assist with monitoring and reporting website traffic, social-media performance, email engagement, content usage, event activity, media coverage, and campaign outcomes
- Prepare reports, dashboards, summaries, and recommendations to improve content performance, external visibility, stakeholder engagement, and marketing effectiveness
- Maintain marketing project trackers, budget documentation, vendor estimates, invoices, files, and other records in accordance with company processes
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, English, business, graphic design, or a related field
- 0–2 years of relevant experience in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, content development, event coordination, digital marketing, or a related discipline
- Strong writing, editing, proofreading, research, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to research unfamiliar topics and develop accurate, concise, and audience-appropriate content
- Strong organizational and project-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines, review cycles, and stakeholder inputs
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams
- Ability to create polished presentations, documents, marketing materials, and communications products with close attention to detail
- Ability to work effectively with technical professionals, business leaders, cross-functional teams, and external vendors
- Ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and work under general supervision
- U.S. citizenship or ability to meet applicable customer and contract requirements
Qualifications
Must Haves
