Summary
Boston Scientific is a medical technology company that develops innovative devices and therapies for complex healthcare conditions. The Field Service Engineer II will install, maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair cardiovascular medical systems while providing customer support and training. The role manages service requests across an assigned territory and collaborates with healthcare providers and internal teams to ensure high-quality equipment performance and service delivery.
Responsibilities
- Provide on-site service including installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, calibration, and repair of medical systems and equipment
- Train and educate medical staff on equipment use, safety protocols, and basic troubleshooting
- Deliver technical support for field escalations, customer concerns, and warranty inquiries
- Manage routine and emergency service requests within your assigned territory
- Accurately document service events, complaint information, and system updates using internal tools
- Adhere to standard operating procedures, safety guidelines, and applicable regulatory requirements
- Participate in projects, event support, or cross-functional tasks as required by the business unit
- Maintain strong communication with internal teams, customers, and leadership regarding service activities and priorities
Skills
- 1 year of experience with an Associate's degree or technical diploma in Electronics, Biomedical Engineering, Life Sciences, or a related technical field; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience demonstrating the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for the role
- High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of 3 years of relevant field service, technical, or biomedical equipment experience
- Completion of a biomedical equipment technician (BMET) certification, formal technical training program, or military technical training with a minimum of 1 year of hands-on experience
- Bachelor's degree in a related field with relevant technical experience (e.g., field service, maintenance, repair, or support of complex equipment)
- Minimum of 1 year in a role requiring travel to customer or field/remote sites
- Strong understanding of electronic systems, including analog and digital circuitry
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and servicing complex technical or medical equipment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a customer-first mindset
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Valid driver's license, clean driving record, and access to a reliable service vehicle that meets company insurance requirements
- Prior technical field service, biomedical, or military technical MOS experience
- Experience in hospital or ambulatory surgery environments
- Background in EP, Cath Lab, or imaging technologies
- Certification or coursework in Laser Technology, Electronics, or Biomedical Engineering
- Strong proficiency with business systems and Microsoft Office Suite
