Follett Content Solutions partners with K-12 schools and public libraries to provide diverse print and digital collections, classroom materials, and technology solutions. The Outside Sales Consultant drives sales growth across school districts and public libraries in New York City by prospecting, developing customer relationships, managing the sales pipeline, and selling the company’s portfolio of products and services.
Responsibilities
- The Outside Sales Consultant will be responsible for driving sales growth across current and prospective school districts and sites to support selling the full portfolio of Follett content library and classroom, books, early childhood materials, digital content, technology platforms that support digital, eFairs, as well as value added services and products. This role is accountable for identifying new opportunities, developing relationships with key decisionmakers, and growing revenue across the assigned territory
- The Outside Sales Consultant will also prospect, develop, and grow current and prospective public libraries selling the full portfolio of Follett Public Library books, value-added services and products while fostering ongoing relationships leading to consistent sales growth
- Proactively prospect, develop, and grow new business through consistent field activity, including onsite customer meetings, school and public library visits, and targeted outreach across assigned accounts
- Promote, demonstrate, and sell the value of all assigned product lines and services as described by company utilizing a shared Outside/Inside sales model. Focus selling efforts primarily on district level contacts and partner with inside sales team on site-based selling
- Build, maintain, and advance a healthy sales pipeline. Manage opportunities throughout the sales cycle—from prospecting and discovery through presentation, proposal, follow-up, and close—with clear next steps and accurate forecasting
- Meet established sales quotas, revenue growth targets, new-business expectations, and other sales performance objectives relevant to the position. Monitor voice mail and e-mail daily and company correspondence and respond appropriately
- Attend and participate in local, regional and national exhibits, webinars, trade shows and sales meetings as scheduled
- Liaise and maintain communication with sales support groups within the company, library service consultants, technical support, curriculum alignment, sales management and other internal departments to respond to inquiries and to follow-up as needed
- Own the performance of the assigned territory by maintaining accurate and timely information in the company CRM tool including customer activity, opportunities, pipeline, call plans, daily/weekly itineraries and next steps
- Maintain strong knowledge of all assigned products, promotional materials, catalogs and customer facing marketing collateral in order to effectively communicate Follett’s value proposition and advance the sale
- Research school districts, public libraries, grants, programs, initiatives and other relevant market information to identify new opportunities and maximize sales growth within the territory
Skills
- Bachelor's degree or 5 years of Outside Sales Experience
- 3-5 years of outside field sales experience
- Solid presentation skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience with complex sales situations and operating within a district sales model
