Food Distribution Strategy & Logistics InternshipSummaryWe offer a Farmers Market Box Delivery through our eat! Food Distribution program. Memberships areseasonal and directly support Food Access LA and 5–7 local farmers throughout the year. We servecustomers living throughout LA County and recently were authorized to accept EBT Online as a form ofpayment for our boxes.The Food Distribution Strategy & Logistics Intern is responsible for supporting the Director of FoodDistribution with key strategy and logistics planning with a primary focus on data collection, sales andinventory tracking, and will work on-site at our farmers markets at least one or two times per week tohelp with box packing and market promotion.We are looking for a 3 month commitment with opportunity to extend the internship.Project-based Responsibilities• Coordination/Strategy Tasks: Assist in coordinating with and identifying community locations to build out ournetwork of free pick-up sites for our box delivery program. Researching corporations and businesses to assist with the build out of a contact list forour bulk food distribution outreach Support with invoicing, Excel-based tracking, and other administrative andorganizational tasks. Support data collection, sales tracking, and other research or data analysis projects.• Development/Outreach: Work on-site at farmers markets once per week to pack orders and assist ProgramCoordinator with vendor communication. Promote signups at the farmers market in the eat! booth and assist with EBT online signups and customer service through phone and e-mail.Desired skills & qualifications Bilingual English/ Spanish, written and verbal; Reliable transportation with valid California Driver’s License and self-insured vehicle Demonstrated progressive leadership capabilities; Reliable, self-driven, and able to follow clear directives with minimal supervision; Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize multiple tasks effectively; Proactive problem-solving skills; Comfortable working collaboratively in a team setting with diverse groups of people andengaging families in an interactive class setting Ability to communicate in a professional manner consistently and dependably via E-mail andphone;
Proficient in Microsoft Office 365 and SharePoint cloud platform; Comfortable using internet applications and digital platforms Working knowledge of Food Safety regulations, ServSafe Certification Required (can beattained upon hiring); Experience working with underserved, low-income communities with awareness and integrity.
Internships are based on student’s availability and school schedule. Our interns generally serve between 9-12 hours per week. While these time frames work best for most students, all scheduling, including start/end dates and hours per week, are flexible and negotiated between the candidate and the supervisor during the interview stage of the selection process. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
We’re looking for interns who are reliable, flexible, detail-oriented, and self-motivated. Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and project management skills are also valued.
