Job Duck connects professionals with remote opportunities supporting US-based employers. The company is seeking an experienced Bilingual Litigation Paralegal to support a personal injury and litigation practice by managing case files, calendars, deadlines, documentation, client communications, and litigation-related documents.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and detailed case notes, records, and documentation
- Coordinate with opposing counsel and opposing counsel’s paralegals regarding scheduling, documentation, and case related matters
- Review applicable Rules of Civil Procedure and ensure litigation tasks are completed according to procedural requirements
- Manage litigation calendars, including depositions, hearings, deadlines, and other important case dates
- Monitor deadlines and follow up on pending tasks to ensure nothing falls through the cracks
- Review case information and documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with required deadlines
- Assist the attorney in keeping litigation matters progressing efficiently
- Prepare, organize, and maintain litigation files and case documentation
- Anticipate the next logical steps in active litigation matters and take appropriate action without waiting for step by step instructions
- Proactively identify upcoming litigation tasks and prepare necessary documents in advance
- Follow up on outstanding documentation, discovery, and other case requirements
- Communicate with clients to obtain detailed and accurate information when necessary
- Assist with preparing discovery and gathering relevant information and documentation from clients
- Draft petitions, pleadings, disclosures, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation related documents
- Handle confidential and sensitive client information with professionalism and discretion
- Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, case managers, and other members of the legal team
Skills
- Previous experience as a Litigation Paralegal or Legal Assistant in a litigation environment
- Hands on experience supporting active litigation matters
- Strong understanding of litigation processes, procedures, and Rules of Civil Procedure
- Experience drafting petitions, pleadings, disclosures, discovery requests and responses, and other litigation related documents
- Experience managing litigation calendars, including depositions, hearings, deadlines, and other important case dates
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word
- Familiarity with legal practice management and document management systems
- Comfortable working with digital case files and virtual communication platforms
- Comfortable communicating with clients to obtain detailed and accurate information
- Professional and confident when communicating with attorneys, opposing counsel, clients, and other parties
- Highly detail oriented with a strong commitment to accuracy and precision
- Proactive and self motivated, with the ability to anticipate the next steps in a litigation matter
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish
- Strong understanding of litigation procedures and deadlines
- Ability to draft and review litigation related documents accurately
- Strong follow through and ability to keep outstanding tasks from falling through the cracks
- Ability to manage multiple active matters and competing deadlines
- Comfortable working quickly and effectively under pressure
