Responsibilities
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Assist with other litigation and legal administrative duties as assigned
- Communicate professionally with opposing counsel regarding litigation matters
- Notify judicial offices of relevant case developments, including settlements, when appropriate
- Create and maintain accurate contact information for judges and judicial assistants
- Maintain organized, complete, and accurate case files and documentation
- Communicate with judicial assistants regarding case questions, updates, and administrative matters
- Review newly assigned cases and identify the appropriate judge using the assigned case number
- Prepare and send conferral emails to opposing counsel when required
- Draft initial pleadings and litigation related legal documents using established templates
- Research and add judges to the case management system when necessary
- Maintain accurate records of litigation requests, communications, and follow ups
- Complete E-filing activities accurately and within applicable deadlines
- Assist with case setup after new lawsuits are filed
- Draft proposed orders, cover letters to judges, and court related correspondence
- Prepare witness lists, exhibit lists, and other case documentation
- Support civil litigation and first-party property damage matters
- Draft motions to compel, including motions related to obtaining deposition dates when opposing parties are unresponsive or do not cooperat
Skills
- Fluent or highly proficient in English and Spanish
- Previous experience working in a legal environment, preferably supporting litigation matters
- Civil litigation experience
- First-party property damage experience
- E-filing experience
- Previous experience supporting United States litigation matters
- Experience drafting pleadings, motions, proposed orders, or other litigation documents
- Formal paralegal certification or licensing is not required
- Experience communicating with opposing counsel, courts, judges, or judicial assistants is preferred
- Familiarity with United States litigation procedures and legal terminology is preferred
