The Maintenance Mechanic involves skilled work in the maintenance and repair of buildings, machinery, and mechanical equipment. An employee in this class performs specialized mechanical work in a manual trade or functions as a skilled worker across multiple crafts. Work includes maintaining and repairing machinery and equipment such as pumps, engines, motors, pneumatic tubes, and electrical apparatus used in a wide variety of public building structures. In performing these duties, the employee utilizes a strong working knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and practices standard to the building, electrical, mechanical, or plumbing trades.
